Pelvic instability during pregnancy

November 1, 2020

During pregnancy hormones change and influence the elasticity of the ligaments, the pelvic ligaments are stretched around the 20th week of pregnancy and in some cases the ligaments can be stretched beyond the usual degree, this can lead to instability of the pelvic girdle which can affect the birth. Pain is usually felt low down over the symphyseal joint, it can also be felt in the hips, groin and lower abdominal and can radiate down the inner thighs.
